In Honest Reality
Are you too honest? I repeatedly get that feedback. Not that I am like a young child who embarrasses their parent by exclaiming for all to hear in a grocery store that the person in front of them is fat. Even I understand not to do that. What I don't understand is effective honesty, which is something that this website and group means to examine. My particular problem is...being too honest about flaws/opportunities for improvement in a work product, and it's in front of clients, and, for some, perceived as making my organization's team look bad. Doesn't matter if I say it nicely and constructively (it's of course worse if I do not), the effect is the same. Don't say that. I would be horrible at poker (an untested assumption since I do not play poker). My goal in saying these things in front of clients and to my team is improvement and taking the meeting opportunity to move the project forward - efficiency. But the feedback suggests it's not effective. At least for some. What do you think? Have you ever had a similar experience of being too honest? What do you think "effective honesty" is?

In Honest Reality
I ask the reader.
Who is a leader?
Those with moral compass?
Those who mainly kick ass?
Those with a purpose
That will desert us?
Those seeking a solution
To communal pollution?
Is the goal to learn something
Or only to win something?
Is it a vulture
Commanding culture?
Or a new zeitgeist
Demanding no heist?
Those that give one hundred, ten percent?
Those that balk and heartily resent?
Power over for zero sum?
No care for those who must succumb?
Power with, we all have won?
Enough care for all who come?
Agree to the same game?
Position to gain fame?
Good deeds a leader brings to fruition
Often displace doers from position.
Compliance
With science
Can lead to a positive effect, Uncertainty for those who reject.
Political disaffection
I do not need any correction.
Many dichotomies
In personalities
Render creativities
Many needed remedies.
No poker face
You are a disgrace
The good of the collective
Only at my directive.
On you society will depend
On you society can upend
Ignorance of the truth
Only you can rebuke
False leaders' damn lies
Affecting your lives.
